Description
How to Install and Flush the Coldstream Sentry Ceramic Cartridge
Follow these crucial steps to ensure optimal performance and the best-tasting filtered water for your home:
- Handle with care: Treat your new ceramic cartridge gently, as if it were an egg, to avoid hairline cracks.
- Isolate and turn off: Turn off your water supply and open your filtration faucet to release any built-up pressure in the system.
- Remove old cartridge: Unscrew the filter housing using your housing wrench. Remove the old, expired cartridge and safely discard it.
- Clean the housing: Take a moment to rinse out the inside of the filter housing with warm water (no harsh soaps) to clear away any trapped sediment.
- Check the O-rings: Ensure the rubber seals and washers on the top and bottom of your new cartridge are securely in place.
- Install the cartridge: Place the new Coldstream Sentry cartridge directly into the centre of the housing.
- Reassemble: Carefully screw the housing back onto the head of your system. Hand-tighten firmly, or use your housing wrench to ensure a snug fit without over-tightening.
- Initial Flush: Turn the water supply back on slowly and check thoroughly for any leaks. Open your filter faucet and allow the water to run continuously for 10 to 15 minutes. This clears out any natural manufacturing ceramic dust and fully activates the filter media. (Tip: You can collect this flush water in a bucket to water your garden plants!)
- Final Check: Close the faucet and check the housing seals one last time to make sure there are zero signs of weeping or leaking.
Your water filter is now ready to deliver crisp, clean, healthy water.
Important Warning: This filter is highly effective at purifying town water and untreated fresh water sources (rainwater, bores, creeks). However, it is NOT intended to treat water contaminated with raw sewage, industrial chemical wastewater, or unknown toxic waste. Always use with a visually clear, fresh water supply for safety.
