When we first looked into water filters, we were completely overwhelmed. So many options, so much jargon. What’s the difference between the 5-stage and 4-stage RO system?
The 5-stage system includes a remineralisation filter that adds essential minerals like calcium and magnesium for better taste and balance. The 4-stage system does not include this final stage.
Can I use this RO system for tank and bore water?
This system is best suited for town (mains) water. For tank or bore water, please explore our Rain Water Tank Filter options that provide additional sediment and bacteria removal commonly found in untreated sources.
How often do I need to change the cartridges and how much do they cost?
Sediment Pre-Filter: Every 12 months ($89)

What’s the difference between the Alkahydrate and the Omnipure remineraliser?

3rd Stage Omnipure Reverse Osmosis Replacement Membrane WL5572
Effectively removes up to 99% of PFAS, fluoride, viruses, bacteria and parasites. The membrane screens to 0.0005 micron for pristine drinking water. Replace every 3-6 years. Made in USA.
4th Stage AlkaHydrate OR Omnipure Alkalising & Remineralising Cartridge
The Omnipure Alkaliser OR AlkaHydrate Alkaliser raises pH levels, producing slightly alkaline oxygenating qualities for healthier water. Replace every 2 years.
How does the Reverse Osmosis Membrane Work?
A reverse osmosis membrane is a thin film with tiny pores that permit only water molecules to pass through, blocking all contaminants. It’s made of a semi-permeable material that allows water flow but blocks dissolved salts, organics, bacteria, and pyrogens. When pressurised, pure water diffuses through the membrane into the permeate flow, leaving contaminants behind. Reverse osmosis removes up to 99% of impurities.
Polluted water is forced through the semi-permeable membrane by mains pressure. Pure water passes easily, while pollutants larger than.0005 microns are washed away into a waste stream that goes down the drain. This waste stream contains all of the filtered-out contaminants, including pesticides, metals, bacteria, and viruses. Reverse Osmosis systems are consistently one of the better PFAS water filters and water filters that filters fluoride as well.
